Why not just count the Official MCP Registry by namespace?

Because the biggest namespaces are not companies. Counted raw, the top of the registry is personal GitHub accounts (io.github.<user>) that bulk-publish hundreds of API wrappers each. That measures who uploads the most, not which businesses build MCP servers.

How is a company counted here?

A company is the domain its servers are published under. The registry only lets a publisher use a domain namespace such as com.stripe after proving control of that domain, so every server under it belongs to the same business. Subdomains roll up to their parent domain.

What is left out?

Servers under personal GitHub namespaces, servers on free platform subdomains (such as workers.dev or vercel.app), and hosting platforms that publish other people's servers under their own namespace. Hosts still have pages; they are just not ranked as builders here.

How often does this ranking change?

It refreshes daily from the Official MCP Registry. 49% of listed servers shipped a release in the last 30 days, so the order moves.
